Let the City of Coquitlam know you support Local Food and Urban Agriculture

The City of Coquitlam is asking residents for their opinion on the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Implementation Survey.  This plan will guide policy development and planning work across many service areas (e.g. arenas, trails, festivals, urban agriculture etc.) for the next 15 years.

This is your opportunity to tell the City what you think about their current plan and provide feedback.

Show your support for local food and urban agriculture policy by completing the survey

Please take 5-10 minutes and lend your voice to the “Community Beautification” service area, where you’ll find the following local food and urban agriculture priorities listed:

  • developing a local food sustainability policy
  • community garden policy (a 2019 priority)
  • partner w/developers to provide space for gardens

We would encourage you to state your support for the priorities noted above. You can also add other ideas, such as creating community gardens on public land (including underutilized parking lots), establishing edible trails, incentivizing neighbourhood-level local food projects, and increasing the City’s support of its Farmers Market, for example.

The survey provides an important opportunity to shape city priorities and action, demonstrates that residents care about strengthening local food and urban agriculture policy and plans, and works towards creating a more resilient city.

The survey is open until July 31, with a special incentive from the City of Coquitlam for those who complete it by July 15.
