Weekly Vendor Spotlight: Soul Light Greens

 In Vendor Spotlight

With the onset of COVID-19, the farmer’s markets are slightly different this year. To maintain the flow of traffic and avoid crowding we have asked that people “Shop, don’t stop” during the market. This may have created a lack of connection between you and our incredible vendors. We will be posting a weekly spotlight of our vendors to give you the opportunity to stop and connect with your local makers, bakers, and growers!

This week’s vendor spotlight is Soul Light Greens

Tell us about your business?

We have a small-scale vertical farm, started in July 2020. We are currently growing microgreens for restaurants and Farmers’ Market

What inspired you to start your business?

When we first moved to Canada in 2018, we started to grow a backyard garden with different types of vegetables, fruits, and roots during the summer. We got excited with the idea of farming, and the possibility of eating fresh and healthy so we started to research more about it. During the 2019 winter we attended a microgreens course and we fell in love with it, and we have been improving our techniques since then.

What is your favourite thing about the Port Moody Market and Port Moody?

Our favorite thing about Port Moody Farmers Market is the community itself. We were so happy to see how friendly and interested people were about us and our products, and how they like sharing their own experiences with us. We felt very immersed in the community since day one.

What is something you are grateful for this year?

Our eating habits have changed completely as we started to perfect the process of growing microgreens. To be able to expand that to the community is very gratifying, especially when we are told stories like little kids that were not very into veggies that now are looking forward to eating “tiny” greens.
